The Government of Chile announces the “Modo Empleo” (Employment Mode) plan

The Government of Chile announces “Modo Empleo” and allocates CLP $50 billion to drive new hiring
The Government of Chile has announced the “Modo Empleo” plan, a measure aimed at boosting job creation through a CLP $50 billion package. The initiative seeks to encourage formal hiring and provide concrete support to companies planning to bring on new workers in the short term.
In a climate where job creation remains a priority, this new measure emerges as a significant opportunity for organizations that meet the established requirements and wish to access the available benefits. However, to take proper advantage of it, it is essential to review the conditions, deadlines, and documentation carefully.
What the “Modo Empleo” plan involves
According to the official information published by the Government, the plan includes various tools to promote formal employment, among them hiring subsidies and specific support for the creation of jobs. The goal is to facilitate new hires and support the recovery of the labor market.
One of the main measures is the allocation of funds for hiring subsidies, with a focus on companies that can meet the requirements defined to apply.
Requirements to access the benefit
A company may access the benefit if it meets the following requirements:
Be taxed under the First Category (Primera Categoría).
Hire workers over 18 years of age.
That the employment relationship begins on or after July 15, 2026.
That the worker has no record of pension contributions with any employer during the three months immediately preceding the start of the employment relationship.
That the gross monthly salary does not exceed three Monthly Minimum Wages.
Submit the application no later than the month following the start of the employment relationship, and within the current application period.
That the work is performed in a region included in the resolution that determines the application of the benefit.
That the employment contract is registered on the Electronic Platform of the Labor Directorate (Dirección del Trabajo), in accordance with current regulations.
Why it pays to review the application carefully
Although this type of benefit can represent significant support for companies, access to it depends on meeting specific requirements and on correct administrative management. An error in reviewing background information, in selecting the person hired, or in registering the contract can leave a company out of the benefit.
For this reason, what matters for organizations is having orderly management that makes it possible to validate eligibility, prepare the documentation, and submit the application within the deadline.
