Digitalization, data, and security: the innovation journey undertaken by Fiabilis thanks to the Digital Transition Call for Lombard Businesses

Digital transformation today represents one of the main challenges for companies that want to grow sustainably, improve their decision-making capacity, and face an ever-evolving market with greater agility.

With this goal, Fiabilis Consulting Group Italia has carried out a major innovation project within the framework of the “Digital Transition of Lombard Businesses” Call, promoted by the Lombardy Region and financed through the ERDF Regional Programme (FESR) 2021–2027, with the support of the European Union and the Italian Republic. The initiative is part of the European policies dedicated to accelerating the digital transformation of SMEs and strengthening their competitiveness through the adoption of innovative technologies.

Developed over the course of twelve months, the project enabled Fiabilis to take a significant step forward in its organizational evolution, acting on three fundamental pillars: the digitalization of processes, cybersecurity, and the enhancement of the company’s information assets.

Digitalizing to govern processes better

One of the central objectives of the initiative was to raise the organization’s level of digital maturity through the revision of administrative and financial processes.

To achieve this result, Fiabilis evolved its digital management model through the implementation of SAP Business One, strengthening and enhancing already well-established financial processes and bringing them to a new level of integration, automation, and control. The solution ensured greater availability and quality of information, supporting more effective management of financial processes and more informed strategic planning.

The adoption of a single, integrated platform made it possible to improve the traceability of operational flows, strengthen authorization processes, and create a more reliable information base to support business decisions.

For an organization that is part of an international group like Fiabilis, having timely, consistent, and easily shareable information means being able to manage increasingly complex processes more effectively and to ensure a more complete view of business dynamics.

Cybersecurity: protecting the value of data

Digital transformation cannot be separated from information security.

For this reason, the project included a specific area of intervention dedicated to strengthening corporate cybersecurity. Through a careful analysis of the types of data processed and their respective risk levels, a protection model was defined that is consistent with the organization’s operational needs and with the most modern information security requirements.

The implementation of solutions dedicated to endpoint protection, access control, and the prevention of cyber threats now makes it possible to reduce the risks of data compromise and to ensure greater operational continuity.

In a context in which information represents one of the most strategic assets for any organization, investing in security means safeguarding the value generated by innovation itself.

From data to organizational intelligence

One of the most innovative aspects of the project concerns the creation of a centralized Data Lake, developed with the aim of overcoming the fragmentation of information and creating a shared database to support analysis and reporting activities.

The infrastructure makes it possible to integrate the various company databases while preserving their logical separation and security, yet enabling cross-cutting analyses and the production of higher-value-added information.

Thanks to the introduction of Business Intelligence tools, the organization can now access information more quickly, reduce processing times, and support operational and strategic decisions with data-based evidence.

This is a particularly significant step because it transforms the company’s information assets from a mere data archive into a concrete lever for innovation and growth.

Technological innovation and skills development

Alongside the investments in technologies and infrastructure, the project included training and support activities dedicated to the people involved in the new digital processes.

The effectiveness of digital transformation in fact depends on organizations’ ability to encourage the adoption of the tools introduced and to develop new internal skills. For this reason, the training activities accompanied all the main implementation phases, facilitating the integration of the new solutions into the company’s day-to-day operations.

A project that looks to the future

The initiative carried out by Fiabilis represents a concrete example of how the tools made available by European and regional policies can support companies on their innovation journeys.

The integration of advanced process management, information security, and data enhancement made it possible to strengthen the company’s organizational structure, increasing its efficiency, resilience, and capacity to adapt.

This is a result that goes beyond the mere introduction of new technologies and that demonstrates how digital transformation can become a true strategic driver of growth, creating the conditions to face the challenges of the future with greater awareness.
